How To Unlock Bootloader of Xiaomi Devices


Hello and Welcome to all new guide to unlock the bootloader of your Xiaomi Device. Many of us want to install custom ROMS over MIUI or root our device. But due to the bootloader lock we are unable to do this. So, here is the most elaborative and simple guide which will help you in unlocking the bootloader of your MI device.
Reason why Xiaomi locked the bootloaders
They did so to ensure the security and safety of your device in case it gets lost or stolen. With the bootloader locked no one can flash the custom ROM and enter the default recovery to do a factory reset.

What will happen after you unlock your device
  • Everything works perfectly fine including the fingerprint.
  • You can update using updater app.
  • You can install custom recovery.
  • You can install custom ROMS.
  • You can root your device.
  • Your warranty is not void [If you unlocked officially].
  • You will not lose any data.
What will happen after you install custom TWRP recovery
  • You can install any custom ROM.
  • You can easily root/ unroot your device.
  • You can backup and restore your apps+data/ apps/ data/ system/ boot/ etc.
  • You will receive the updates but you cannot update it through updater app, if you do so your device will enter bootloop.
  • You have to download and flash full ROM zip via TWRP if you want to update.
  • Some recoveries like ZCX, Redwolf support MIUI OTA Update which means there is no need to download and flash full update whenever the update comes.
Requirements for unlocking Bootloader: Xiaomi USB Drivers installed on PC, ADB Drivers, USB Debugging Enabled, MIUI ROM [global beta or global stable] installed on your device, USB Cable, Mi Unlock Tool.

Procedure
  1. Visit the MI Unlock Link.
  2. You will see UNLOCK NOW button.
  3. Click on it.
  4. On the next page sign in with your Mi Account. If you do not have Mi Account , create new Account and follow the next steps.
  5. On next page Enter your Name, Country code, Mobile no. , Reason for unlocking bootloader [Write in English], Fill the captcha and Accept disclaimer.
  6. Finally click on Apply Now.
  7. On next page enter the OTP you received on your number and click on Next.
  8. The Next page will show Application has been successfully submitted, Please be a patient review.
  9. Wait for some hours to days to get your application approved.
  10. Don't hurry just wait patiently.
